A Futureof Work Pioneer

While completing my Doctorate in 2002, I focused on remote leadership and predicted the world of work would change to become more flexible and mobile. I continue to write and innovate on the topic as a future-of-work pioneer.

In 2013 I co-created assessments and training for organizations to thrive when working remotely, and co-founded a start-up called Work EvOHlution™ that developed leaders, teams, and cultures for hybrid and remote workplaces. Our Distributed Work Profiler was featured in Scientific American as the world's first personality profile of a remote worker, and the company was named one of Alberta's most innovative start-ups and presented at South by Southwest.

As an Adjunct Professor in the Psychology Department at the University of Calgary, I collaborate with undergraduate and graduate students on research projects currently focused on the behaviors and impacts of toxic leaders.

My latest book, I Wish I'd Quit Sooner: Practical Strategies for Navigating and Escaping a Toxic Boss, released on January 13, 2026 and has become an Amazon international bestseller. I also co-authored Growing the Virtual Workplace in 2008.

Using another part of my brain, I've written two psychological thrillers, Losing Cadence and Finding Sophie, which are currently being adapted for a television series. Through my novels, I aim to both entertain and raise awareness about mental health and domestic violence. I'm also an advocate for ending violence against girls and women through the WITH HER movement.

A SerialEntrepreneur

My passion for taking creative ideas and launching them into successful businesses led me to start two counselling psychology practices Canada Career Counselling and Synthesis Psychology, as well as several former brands offering organizational assessment and consulting services, Leadership Success Group and Work EvOHlution. I've never been afraid to try something new or do things differently.

Rootedin Purpose

Philanthropy and charitable work matter deeply to me, so I serve on nonprofit committees and boards focused on causes I'm passionate about. A primary focus is ending violence against girls and women through the WITH HER movement, which I co-founded. I also serve on the Board of the Youth Singers of Calgary, a 40-year performing arts organization that builds confidence and leadership in children and youth.

Do I have a great work-life balance? No, but I don't even like that term! I strive instead for work-life wellness: staying inspired and healthy in both spheres. It takes constant effort and a team of supporters to make that vision a reality.

I have a busy, fun household overlooking the Rocky Mountains in Calgary with my husband, Scott, our two sons (Nick & Matt), our daughter, Cadence, and our two white, fluffy dogs, Ghost and Benny. I love travel, squash, hiking, yoga, playing and singing music, and downhill skiing.
